Description

The product of 4 days hard work.

This is a form of one of my main personas whom I name myself after on a few sites and a lot in games, especially RPGs. I had a dream about 2 or 3 weeks ago that I was a water sorcerer. I lived in a nation of lion anthros, the nation was in a jungle and had been inflicted by a plague causing wide famine. I was requested to stop the drought caused by the plague with a rain ceremony, but the ritual failed and I was forced to stop the plague at it's source. I ended up finding it's source, being an undead curse, and attempted the ceremony again with succession. Summoning a monsoon, I was named king of the lion nation (with my white lion partner).

This is what I looked like in that dream. And elf version of Juacamo summoning water. Water being my 3rd favorite element after darkness and ice. And usually what I end up with in RPGs that don't have those two.

I only have two to three main regrets with this picture. First, and the largest, I did not make it big enough. It's real size is only 9 by 12 inches. Which was a mistake made by the fact that I didn't know how much work I was going to put into it. Second, the staff is not the same as what I had in the dream. I had a metal staff with a much more even shaped crystal. Though I do believe having it made of wood here really offsets the color. Lastly, I feel the water is causing too much to tell what's going on.

I would love to hear opinions on this, tell me if anything seems off or wrong, I will open up a critique for the remarks. Thank you all very much. Will get to other projects soon.

I updated it a bit and added a spell circle with my knew knowledge on making them. I love how it looks.

Hey Juacamo! I did a paintover which I will post in the comment section. Just focus on the values and where you want the eye to look first. Use the whites and black carefully. They are your strongest values, so use them sparingly and only when you want something to be of importance.
The idea is very cool. The elements just needs some breathing room. For me, the character was most important, so I pulled the focus to him nd his face. Next was the casting of the spell. I wanted to make them all readable, so I moved elements around so it didn't feel as cramped. Here are the main things I adjusted:

1. Brought values down to be less light. Used the whites and blacks to enhance points of interest.
2. The foreground rocks toned down so that the eye focuses on the character rather than rocks. The background and foreground can be painted much looser focusing on just value and form rather than surface detail. Same goes for the clouds.
3. Thickened his body just a bit and added some more flowing cape to add movement. You can do this in any way. I only adjusted this to free up some more room for the other elements in your image to breathe.
4. Enlarged the hand and staff a bit to push the impact and dynamics a bit more.
5. Moved the spell away from the face to create more focus on the character. I also toned down the effects from the spell. It made the image hard to read. It was covering up all the cool parts like the face and the outfit.

sorry if its a lot of info. I think that its a great start and idea. If you pushed this a bit further with better values, I think it could be your best piece yet!
